What is underfloor heat?

Lora Ray March 18, 2024 Home Improvement Comments are off

Underfloor heating has been wildly popular in Scandinavia for many years. It is just as it sounds.

Different types of underfloor heating use electric pads, coils, or water-filled tubes beneath the floor covering. Both produce a high heat output that is sufficient to heat up a room to an acceptable temperature. Dry systems and wet systems are the two types of underfloor heating.

The presence of UFH can eliminate the need for traditional or modern radiators and heated towel rails without compromising the comfort or warmth that make a house a “home”. UFH installation is a great way to enhance the value of your home.

Underfloor heating is a system that transforms your entire floor into a warm, toasty radiator. The floor will heat up evenly when the temperature exceeds the air temperature. This eliminates the possibility of cold spots. To find out about Underfloor Heating Gloucestershire, visit parsonsflooring.com/services/electric-under-floor-heating-gloucestershire

It is even more impressive when you consider the fact that the floor area occupies a much larger space than a traditional radiator, and therefore does not need to be heated at the same level of temperature to provide an adequate amount of heat. The energy efficiency of underfloor heating is excellent, and this can have a positive impact on your home’s energy bills.

The underfloor heating is divided into two categories based on how it operates. A wet UFH system uses warm water to travel around the pipes in a subfloor system. Dry underfloor heating is achieved by using matting or wires set into concrete screed or tiles.

For new constructions and whole-house installation, wet underfloor systems are the most suitable option.

Installations of dry electric underfloor heating are more common in smaller spaces, such as the bathroom or en suite. Underfloor heating can be installed much more easily and cheaply with this type.

Underfloor heating is environmentally friendly

The question of whether to upgrade or invest in home heating is a common one, especially at a time when people are more environmentally aware than ever.

Is underfloor heating environmentally friendly?

UFH’s ability to heat a room more evenly and at a lower temperature than a traditional radiator makes it a very cost-effective option.

You would still be less reliant on radiators even if you decided not to remove them completely. This is another way of reducing your energy consumption and preserving the environment.

Water-based underfloor heat is the most economical option. It uses hot water to run through your pipes. Both types of UFH are theoretically powered by renewable sources, such as solar panels and wind turbines, if you’re passionate about reducing the carbon footprint of your home.
