How To Stay Safe When Running

Do you love to run? Do you ever worry about running alone? No matter if you like to go for a jog in the morning or later at night, you need to make sure you’re as safe as possible. As many as 80% of women have said that they’ve been harassed while they were out running. While you might say that you will just run with other people, that isn’t always an option. Here are some ways you can stay safe on your daily run.

Bring Protection

When you go running, you always want to make sure that you have protection with you. Your protection could be pepper spray, a collapsible baton, or even a firearm. The most important thing that you want to remember is that you need to check the laws in your area to make sure that you can use that item for protection.

If you’ve chosen a firearm for protection and have obtained a legal permit to carry it, you should also consider getting concealed carry holsters for women. You can get different colors to go with your outfits, and a holster is an excellent way to keep a weapon on you without cluttering your hands and still allowing for easy access to it if you need it.

Remove Distractions

You probably think running is a great time to listen to an audiobook or your favorite music, but those things are dangerous because they’re distractions. When you’re focused on listening to your headphones, you aren’t focused on what is going on around you. Plus, having earphones in can make it much easier for someone to come up behind you and attack you without you hearing them. Instead of listening to music, listen to the sounds of the world around you. The cars driving, the birds chirping, the people talking. You’ll find that it’s a great break for your mind and very relaxing.
